Red Tent at Spice Box! October 6th
Fran will be performing her daring sword solo at Spice Box this month. So if you missed her at TQNW now is you chance to see this rare solo appearance.
Have you seen the film Latcho Drom? Imagine a time when the village folk would gather for a celebration in a families home. Everyone would circle round and the village dancers would rise up for the occasion of song and dance. It was an intimate setting encompassed by the sound of hands clapping like the beat of the drum. Today our circles are wider. Skin Deep invite you to experience a night like no other....

Gypsy Caravan Teacher training and Collective Soul Certification
It seems our Fearless leader has been bit by the education bug and is now the proud owner of not only the Fat Chance Bellydance General Skills Certificate but now is also Gypsy Caravan Certified Teacher as well as Collective Soul. This has been the realization of a 5 year dream and despite the 2 weeks of non stop dance and sore arms Fran could not be happier!

Fat Chance Bellydance General Skills Certification.
Thanks to a most generous invitation from Corrie of Kashmir Dance Company, our fearless leader Fran was able to attend the General Skills intensive in Salt Lake City. It was an honor and privilege for her to attend this invitation only intensive with the wonderful and witty women of Kashmir. Carolena is an amazing teacher and we are thrilled with all the fantastic new techniques that Fran will bring to us.

Med Fest 2006
Once again the Babs out did themselves putting on Western Washington?s favorite Belly dance bash, the 19th annual Mediterranean Fantasy Festival. (http://www.babylonianensemble.com/)
The Red Tent was so excited to not only make their Med Fest debut but also to go on after Daughters of Dinah. It was nice having our Tribal family performing all together on the same day. Big props to TJ who gathered up her courage and led a sword duet *insert cheers of pride here* and the Red Tent dazzled all with their amazing cued formation changes and sparkly new costumes. We heart Med Fest!

First annual Dame Fest.
The Red Tent was pleased and honored to not only be asked to perform at the very first annual Dame Fest but to also teach interdiction to ATS Crossroads International Park Bellevue.(http://www.damefest.net) The weather cooperated and we had a light breeze (not good for the veil and sword dancers) and sunny skis! My first try at a workshop was well received and we where lucky to have the sassy Icy to be my aid. We had a wonderful time and I hope this event continues to grow!

-Breitenbush Bliss!
Hot tubing and good dancing where had by all at Gypsy Caravans annual Ancient Echoes retreat at Breitenbush hot springs in Detroit OR. Dancers from all over the country gathered to dance, stretch, sweat and soak for a lovely 4 days. The Red Tent was honored and pleased to be asked to perform in set we dubbed ?the joy of improv? Basically we took 2 members of 3 different Tribal troupes and dance together with music we where not very familiar with. It was amazing how quickly we got to know each others cues and body language to pull together an amazing set. Blessed be the improv! So much fun was had it was hard to come home, but come home we did. We can?t wait till next year!

TakingFall City by storm!
The DoD once again thrilled and amazed the crowds at the Fall City parade. With the help of Tree and his wonderful drummers we shimmied our way into the hearts and minds of many of the fine Fall City folks. As luck would have it the weather was much more kind to use this year. It was mostly overcast keeping the heat down. (no sweating off our tribal marks this time) We where also pleased that it did not rain as that would have made it impossible for the drummers to do their thing. I have posted a few photos with more to come. Three cheers for Fall City! Three cheers for summer!
